About Mark Jackson
Mark Jackson, born in 1965, is a former NBA player and current NBA coach. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Jackson grew up playing street basketball and came to be known as a national elite point guard in high school. Jackson then attended St. John’s University, where his excellent free-throw percentage got him noticed and ultimately selected in the 1987 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. Jackson played in the NBA for seventeen years until 2004, throughout which he received a copious amount of reputable awards and career statistics. One of his most notable accomplishments was in 1997 when Jackson led the NBA in assists. While he was traded several times to multiple different teams, Jackson spent the most time with the New York Knicks and ended his professional playing career with the Houston Rockets. Following his retirement as a player, he worked as an analyst of the NBA for the YES network and for ABC. In 2011, Jackson went back to the NBA as he was hired as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors. Under Jackson’s coaching, the Warriors reached the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1992. Jackson continues to guide the Warriors to acquire success.
