About Mark Grimmette
Mark Grimmette is a former Olympic competitor who is praised for widely being considered the front driver for the best American luge doubles team to ever exist. Born in 1971 and previously residing in Michigan for a large portion of his life, Grimmette moved to Lake Placid, New York to pursue his luge career. Grimmette, with partner Brian Martin, has won over 75 international medals. These medals include a bronze and a silver at the Winter Olympic Games (in 1988 and 2002, respectively), along with two silvers and seven bronzes in the World Championships between 1999 and 2009. The partners have also won the season World Cup title in 1998, 1999, and 2003 and the Winter Goodwill Games in 2000. Grimmette has been front driver for six U.S. doubles titles and even carried the United States flag during the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Although retiring from the sport in March of 2010, Mark Grimmette has made a name for himself that will forever go down in history. In fact, a biography has recently been written about him, dedicated to the most decorated slider in the history of the United States Luge Association.
