About Mark Allen
Mark Allen is a triathlete from Glenndale, California. Competing in the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, representing the USA, since 1982, Allen has won an impressive amount of metals. With one bronze, two silver, and six gold medals in the men’s triathlon race between 1983-1995, Allen also earned a gold medal in the 1989 ITU World Championships in Avignon. After ending is racing career in 1996, Allen can proudly state that he is the second six-time Ironman Triathlon World Champion. Although he attended college at UC San Diego graduating with a degree in biology, Allen was an allAmerican swimmer there and excelled at distance swimming. Throughout the course of his racing career representing the United States, Allen maintained a 90% average in top-three finishes. In addition, he was named Triathlete of the Year by Triathlete magazine six times, dubbed “The World’s Fittest Man” by Outside magazine in 1997, and was honorably inducted into the Ironman Triathlon Hall of Fame that same year.
