Marcos Ambrose Biography

Marcos Ambrose is a NASCAR driver and two-time winner on the Sprint Cup Series.  Both victories have at Watkins Glenn International in 2011 and 2012.  Four of his five wins on NASCAR’s Xfinity Series have also come at Watkins Glenn.  Ambrose’s top season finish in Sprint Cup has been two 18th place showings.  He is the most successful Australian to ever drive in NASCAR and was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.  In NASCAR, he raced for JTG Daugherty Racing and Richard Petty Motorsports.  When Ambrose first transitioned from Australia’s V8 Supercar series, he raced the 2006 season in the Truck Series.   He was a two-time V8 Supercars champion and is currently back racing in the series.  Originally, Ambrose had designs on racing in Formula One and won the 1999 European Formula Ford Championship.  He started racing karts at the age of ten, learning from his racecar-driving father.
