About Marc Tardif
The former professional ice hockey player Marc Tardif gained fame through his successful scoring and his important time in both the World Hockey Association (WHA) and National Hockey League (NHL). The birth of Marc Tardif occurred on April 14, 1949, in Montreal Quebec. Tardif started his hockey career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) before establishing himself as a leading offensive player.
The Montreal Canadiens selected Tardif during the 1969 NHL Draft but he spent four seasons with the team before becoming the Quebec Nordiques' WHA superstar. During his time in the WHA he achieved the distinction of becoming the league's all-time scoring leader while winning several scoring titles and earning the prestigious Lou Kaplan Trophy as the league's top rookie. The Nordiques won the Avco World Trophy in 1977 because of Tardif's intense competitiveness and goal-scoring skills.
After the WHA-NHL merger Tardif maintained his success in the NHL with the Nordiques while becoming an essential player for the team during its initial NHL period. Throughout his playing career he accumulated many points while Quebec hockey fans continue to admire him.
Tardif left a lasting impact on hockey through his leadership and commitment to the sport which motivated numerous young athletes. The hockey world honors him as one of the most outstanding forwards from the WHA era while recognizing his significant contributions to professional hockey in Canada.
