About Maiya Tanaka
Maiya Tanaka is a professional golfer and a reality TV personality. Tanaka is currently on the Symetra Futures Tour and has played events on tour since 2010. That year, she also competed on the Golf Channel reality series, Big Break. Following her run on the show, she teamed up with her sister on season 20 of CBS’s Amazing Race. Tanaka walked on to the golf team at UCLA. A 20th place finish in at the Pac-10 Championships in 2007 qualified her for Regionals and Nationals. Tanaka helped establish a girls’ golf team at Mira Mesa High School after originally competing on the boys’ team. She began pursuing the sport at 11 years old through the First Tee program in San Diego. On the first hole of her first tournament, she notched a hole-in-one. The non-profit Pro Kids Golf Academy furthered her development as an amateur golfer. Tanaka is a representative for Katherine Cosmetics.
