About Luis Castillo
Luis Castillo had a very successful career as a second baseman. Castillo was a three-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove winner. Twice he led the National League in stolen bases. He won a World Series with the Florida Marlins in 2003. Originally signed by the Marlins in 1992, he was the only player to play in the franchise’s two championship seasons. No Marlin has ever had more hits or stolen bases in a career. Castillo originally came to the big leagues in 1996. His 35 game hitting streak in 2002 was the longest by a second baseman in major league history. He also played for the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets. For his career, Castillo hit .290 and had 370 stolen bases. He is originally from San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.
