About Lex Luger
Lex Luger is one of the most popular wrestling personalities in history. Luger was born in New York and played football at Orchard Park High School. After high school he played football at Penn State University and the University of Miami where he starred at linebacker and defensive end. After college he played for the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL and then saw time with the Green Bay Packers in the NFL from 1982 to 1983. He went on to finish his career with the Tampa Bay Bandits, Memphis Showboats and Jacksonville Bulls in the USFL from 1984 to 1985. After retiring from football he pursued a successful career in professional wrestling. He got his start in the National Wrestling Alliance and won several championships before joining World Championship Wrestling and becoming the World Heavyweight Champion twice, along with earning several other championships. During that time he was named the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Rookie of the Year in 1986 and Wrestler of the Year in 1997. Luger went on wrestle in the WWF and was named the Most Popular Wrestler of the Year in 1993. He retired in 2005 as one of the most popular and decorated professional wrestlers ever.
