Leonard Weaver

Leonard Weaver played fullback in the National Football League with the Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles from 2005 to 2010. Weaver joined the Seahawks as an amateur free agent after a standout career at Carson-Newman College. While playing at Carson-Newman he earned NCAA Division II All-American honors as a senior after catching 27 passes for 571 yards and eight touchdowns at the tight end position. Weaver went on to earn a starting job at fullback and become one of the most dynamic players in the league. By the time he retired in 2010 he had acquired 679 rushing yards and 687 receiving yards for a total of seven career touchdowns. During his first year with the Seahawks he helped his team to an NFC Championship. Over the next five seasons he earned a Pro Bowl selection and First Team All-Pro honors in 2009. For his performance he was rewarded with a three-year contract worth $11 million and $6.5 million guaranteed, making him the highest paid fullback in history. Weaver retired in 2013 due to injury, and signed a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
