About Lauri Markkanen
The Minnesota Timberwolves originally selected Lauri Markkanen with the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. His one season of college basketball at the University of Arizona established him as a top prospect for the 2017Draft. He averaged 15.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game and was named to the All-Pac 12 first-team. Markannen was also selected to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team and picked up third-team All-American honors. He helped lead the Wildcats to a Pac-12 title and appearance in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Markkanen grew up in Finland and is the product of two Finnish basketball players. He played for a team overseas for three years before coming stateside to play at Arizona.
