About Lauren Silberman
Lauren Silberman is the first woman to receive a National Football League tryout. Prior to her tryout, Silberman has never kicked anything else other than a soccer ball. Silberman’s goal is to make waves as a potential football kicker. Silberman is a graduate student at MIT and an ex-soccer player in Wisconsin. Even though she has never kicked anything other than a football, Silberman made the cut at the regional combine based on her overall athletic ability. At the regional combine, Silberman lasted just two kickoffs before suffering a quadriceps injury and was unable to continue. The kicks combined for a total of 30 yards. Her attempt to gain consideration from NFL scouts fell short during the combine. Besides the injury, another part of Silberman’s downfall was that she had no experience with football. She did not practice prior to her kick, and she did not know how to stand the ball on the tee without it falling.
