Kyle Maynard

Kyle Maynard was born with a congenital defect that left him without his arms just above his elbow and his legs below the knee. Not seeing his birth defect as a disability, Maynard set out to achieve his dream of becoming a wrestler and accomplished that goal in high school, winning 36 matches his senior year and becoming a champion despite the obstacles. With the mantra, “No Excuses”, Maynard has since become an inspirational figure in the sports world, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro without the aid of prosthetics, competing in professional MMA fights, and competing in competitive crossfit competitions. In 2008 he opened No Excuses Crossfit Gym in Suwanee, Georgia and began training people to overcome their obstacles with belief and hard work. His other accomplishments include becoming a best selling author and highly sought after motivational speaker. In 2005 he wrote his autobiography, “No Excuses: The True Story of a Congenital Amputee Who Became a Champion in Wrestling and in Life,” which became a New York Times Best Seller. The following year he was inducted into the Georgia State Wrestling Hall of Fame and National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Oklahoma.
