About Kim Mulkey
Kim Mulkey was an All-American point guard at Louisiana Tech from 1980 to 1984 and helped lead her team to the inaugural NCAA title in 1982. In 1984 she was chosen to represent the USA in the Olympic Games and brought a Gold Medal back to her home country, returning a hero along with her teammates. Upon being named the top senior player in the country in 1984 she graduated and joined the Lady Techsters coaching staff. As an assistant coach she helped her team to another NCAA National Championship in 1988 before being promoted to associate head coach in 1996. In 2000 she was selected as the new head coach at Baylor University and led the Bears to an overall record of 632-104 with three National Championships, 12 Big-12 Regular Season Championships, and 11 Big-12 Tournament Championships on her resume. She has also earned seven Big-12 Coach of the Year Honors and three National Coach of the Year honors. Coach Mulkey is the only coach in NCAA history to win a National Championship as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. In 1992 she was inducted into the Louisiana Tech Athletic Hall of Fame. After 21 seasons at Baylor, Mulkey was named the head coach at LSU in 2021.
