About Kim Caldwell
Kim Caldwell is an American college basketball coach and the current head coach of the University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers. The first non-alumna of the university to lead their women’s basketball team since legendary coach Pat Summit, she has built a reputation as a highly successful coach with a fast-paced, high-octane offensive style and relentless defense.
Before Tennessee, she coached at Marshall University for one season (2023-24), leading the Thundering Herd to a 26-7 record, Sun Belt Conference regular-season and tournament titles, and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1997. She was named the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year and received the Maggie Dixon Award as the top Division I rookie head coach. Before Marshall, Caldwell coached at Glenville State (Division II) from 2016-23, compiling a 191-24 record, winning six regular-season conference championships, four conference tournament titles, and the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championship.
In her first season in Knoxville, she led the Lady Vols to a 24-10 record, a Sweet 16 appearance, and an upset win over UConn. The team set program and SEC records for 3-pointers made (343), attempted (1,054), and scored an NCAA Division I record 30 3-pointers in a 139-59 win over NC Central. Her career coaching record stands at 241-41 across nine seasons.
