About Kellen Winslow
Kellen Winslow helped pave the way for a new generation of big, athletic, pass-catching tight ends. Winslow was a five-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro, and inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. He spent his entire career with the San Diego Chargers, caught 541 passes for 6,741 yards and 45 touchdowns, and is also a member of the team’s Hall of Fame. Winslow benefited from the Chargers’ Air Coryell and catching passes from Dan Fouts. He was the first tight end to lead the NFL in receptions in back-to-back seasons and had the single season yardage record until Rob Gronkowski passed it in 2011. The Chargers originally selected Winslow in the first round of the 1979 NFL Draft out of Missouri. He is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame after becoming a two-time Big 8 and Consensus All-American during his time with the Tigers. In retirement, Winslow had been the athletic director at Central State University and Florida A&M. His son, Kellen Jr., followed in dad’s footsteps as a long-time standout tight end in the NFL.
