About Keala Kennelly
Keala Kennelly began surfing professionally at age seventeen and at age nineteen came in second at the World Qualifying Series Tour. In 2003 Kenelly earned the number one spot in the World Qualifying Tour rankings and ended the year as the second best female surfer in the world. In that same year she finished first at the Vans Hawaiian Pro at Haleiwa Ali'i Beach Park, the Roxy Pro at Sunset Beach, and the Billabong Pro Maui at Honolua Bay, Maui earning her the coveted women’s Triple Crown in surfing. Kennelly left the World Championship Tour in 2007 to pursue a career in acting and DJing. She appeared in the HBO series John From Cincinnati and a few documentaries. Kennelly also travelled around the world as a DJ, performing in Spain, Australia, and the United States, which included opening for Snoop Dogg in Las Vegas. In 2007, she returned to surfing as a professional free surfer and in 2011 Kennelly surfed one of the largest swells to ever hit Teahupoo; her barrel riding that day is still considered to be one of the best by a female at Teahupoo.
