About Stephanie Gilmore
Stephanie Gilmore is a professional surfer. Gilmore began surfing at ten years old when she stood on a bodyboard. Gilmore was entering world tour events as a wild card competitor by the time she was 17. In 2005, she won the 2005 Roxy Pro Gold Coast event and in the next season, she won her second wild card event at the 2006 Havaianas Beachly Classic. Gilmore had much success on the World Qualifying Series tour, which qualified her for the 2007 Women’s ASP World Tour. She won four out of the eight events at the World Tour and she claimed the 2007 World Title. She repeated this success in 2008, 2009, and 2010. As a rookie in 2007, Gilmore won the Foster’s ASP World Title. In 2010, Gilmore won the inaugural Swatch Girls Pro France. Later that year she was inducted into the Surfers’ Hall of Fame. Gilmore is on the board of advisors of ocean conservation organization Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.
