About Justin Morneau
Justin Morneau has played 14 seasons in the big leagues with the Minnesota Twins, Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies and Chicago White Sox. Morneau got his start in pro ball as a third round selection of the Minnesota Twins in the 1999 MLB Draft. Over the next four seasons he established himself as one of the top young prospects in baseball and earned a call-up to the show in 2003. He’d go on to play his first 11 major league seasons with the Twins, where he earned four All-Star selections, two Silver Slugger Awards at first base, and the 2006 American League MVP award. His best season came during his MVP year in 2006, when he hit .321 with 34 homeruns, 37 doubles, 130 RBI and 97 runs scored. In 2008 he finished as the AL MVP runnerup after posting a .300 average with 23 homeruns, 47 doubles, 129 RBI and 97 runs scored. Morneau was known as one of the most consistent hitters in the league, and proved that reputation to be true when he captured the NL batting title in 2014 with a .319 average. Off the field he is a committed philanthropist, establishing The Justin Morneau Foundation to support underprivileged communities.
