About Julia Clukey
Julia Clukey competed in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver as a member of the elite American luge team. She got her start in professional competition in 2002 and posted a career best 12th place finish at the Luge World Cup in 2007-08. The following year she suffered a serious of injuries, but overcame the adversity to return to competition in time for the Olympic games. After an impressive performance in Vancouver she was diagnosed with Arnold Chiari Malformation, which required brain surgery. Since that time she has continued to train and has become a valuable ambassador and spokesperson for the Maine Beer & Wine Distributors Association. She partnered with the association as a spokes person for their responsibility campaign, and has since spoken at over 9,000 Maine high school students about making responsible choices. She has also launched Julia Clukey’s Camp for Girls, which provides a 10-day camp for girl’s ages 8-12.
