Jonathon Brooks

The Carolina Panthers employ Jonathon Brooks as their energetic running back in the NFL. During his senior year at Hallettsville High he achieved 3,530 yards and 62 touchdowns which earned him Mr. Texas Football recognition.

During his time at the University of Texas in 2023 Brooks achieved 1,139 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns which placed him 14th in program history while carrying the ball 187 times at 6.1 yards per carry before his ACL injury occurred in the late part of the season. The Doak Walker Award semifinalist and second-team All–Big 12 selection Brooks also demonstrated his multi-dimensional skills by catching 25 passes for 286 yards.

The second year of Brooks' career became his most successful season because of his emotional strength and determination. After his father passed away in March 2022 Brooks got a tattoo of the date on his forearm while dedicating each touchdown to his memory through his distinctive forearm tap celebration. Coach Steve Sarkisian commended Brooks for his powerful running style and explosive movements and his ability to hit long-distance plays.

The Carolina Panthers drafted Brooks with their 46th overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft but he started his rookie season on the PUP list because of his ongoing ACL recovery. The team activated him in November but his season ended when he suffered another ACL tear during Week 14 which forced him to miss the entire 2025 season.

The 6’0″ 207 lb Brooks possesses size and burst along with strong contact balance and receiving ability which makes him a three-down back in development. His faith together with his maturity and resilience continue to lead him through his challenges.

The combination of Brooks' strength and vision with his balance and catch skills and his impressive college achievements make him an attractive long-term asset for the Carolina team. His proven determination and strong character indicate he will overcome his challenges to achieve success.
