About Jonathan Vilma
Jonathan Vilma played nine seasons in the NFL with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints. Prior to making his NFL dreams come true he helped the University of Miami to a BCS National Championship in 2001 as a member of the famed Hurricanes team dubbed “The U”. Upon joining the New York Jets in 2004 as a first round pick he earned AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors after posting 107 tackles and two sacks. He’d go on to lead the NFL with 169 combined tackles the following year and earn the first of three Pro Bowl selections. In 2008 he was traded the New Orleans Saints and went on to help his team to a win in Super Bowl XLIV. Vilma retired in 2013 with 871 career tackles, 10.5 sacks and 12 career interceptions. One of the highlights of his career came in 2008 when he was awarded the Ed Block Courage Award for his leadership and work in the community.
