Jon Jay

Jon Jay is the pride of Miami, Florida and was an All-American at the University of Miami prior to being selected in the second round of the 2006 MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. Upon signing a minor league contract with the Cardinals he began his professional career and became one of the major league’s top prospects after hitting .301 with 34 homeruns and 61 stolen bases in 409 minor league games. His reputation as a contact hitter and stellar defensive centerfielder earned him a callup to the big leagues in 2010. He’s since become a star in the Cardinals outfield. In 2011 he helped the Cardinals to a World Series title with a .297 average and 10 homeruns in 159 games, and followed that up by hitting a career high .305 in 2012. During his five years in the big leagues he has been a consistent top of the order hitter for the red birds, posting a career .295 average with 28 homeruns and just 383 strikeouts in 678 career games through 2014. Outside of baseball he often returns to Miami to hold various charity events, including the annual Jon Jay’s Celebrity Bowling Challenge. He’s also actively involved in supporting various homeless centers throughout the Miami metropolitan area.
