Jon Anik Biography

Jon Anik serves as a famous American mixed martial arts commentator who leads play-by-play announcements for the UFC. Born in July 1978 in Boston Massachusetts he developed his sports interests through his family's Boston sports heritage in Wellesley. The Rivers School in Weston Massachusetts was his educational institution before he earned his political journalism degree from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. During his academic year at American University in Washington D.C. he worked as an intern for the George Michael Sports Machine.

The start of Anik's broadcasting career involved working as a stringer for the MetroWest Daily News during 2001. Sporting News Radio employed him before he joined ESPN in 2006. His experience hosting "Mouthpiece Boxing" at ESPN led him to discover mixed martial arts. The MMA community recognized him after he started hosting "MMA Live" on ESPN2.

The UFC hired Anik as their play-by-play commentator in 2011. The UFC appointed Anik as their main announcer for pay-per-view events and specific UFC Fight Night broadcasts after Mike Goldberg left the organization in 2017. The UFC employs Anik to host pre- and post-event shows along with ceremonial weigh-ins and the annual UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Anik co-hosts "The Anik & Florian Podcast" alongside former UFC fighter Kenny Florian.

The MMA community widely recognizes Anik for his exceptional work as a commentator. UFC commentator Joe Rogan considers Anik the most skilled play-by-play announcer in MMA history because of his thorough preparation and broadcast expertise.

Anik lives with his wife Chrissy and their three children in Pompano Beach Florida while pursuing his professional activities. Through his community service he dedicates time to support autistic children.
