About John Carney
John Carney is a former two-time Pro Bowl and three-time All-Pro kicker. Carney retired third on the NFL scoring charts with 2,062 points. He made 82 percent of his field goals and 98 percent of his extra points. Only George Blanda played in as many decades as Carney, who suited up in four. Carney trails only Blanda and Morten Anderson as the third oldest player to ever enter an NFL game. He is best known for his time with the San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints. Carney kicked for the Chargers for a decade and is the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. He had three different stints with the Saints and served as a kicking consultant for the team during their Super Bowl win in 2009. Carney attended college at Notre Dame and Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is currently a kicking coach based in California.
