About Joe Kocur
Joe Kocur played in the NHL for 16 years with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks. During that time he notched 80 goals and 82 assists for a total of 162 points in 821 games and also tallied 2,519 penalty minutes. Known as one half of the Red Wings “Bruise Brothers”, Kocur is one of the most penalized players in NHL history. Along with his tenacity on the ice and commitment and dedication to his team, he was also known for his devastating right hook and was certainly not one to shy away from a fight on the ice. Kocur was also a top notch postseason player, scoring 10 goals and adding 12 assists in 118 career games while leading the New York Rangers to a win in the 1994 Stanley Cup and the Detroit Red Wings to consecutive Stanley Cup wins in 1997 and 1998. After his retirement he remained with Red Wings as a video coach and helped lead them to another Stanley Cup title in 2002.
