Jimmy Key

Jimmy Kay pitched in the big leagues for 15 seasons from 1984 to 1998 with the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles. Kay made a name for himself as a two-way prep player at S.R. Butler High School in Hunstville, Alabama after hitting .410 with 11 homeruns and posting a 10-0 record with a sparkling 0.30 ERA during his senior year. At Clemson University he continued to impress, posting a 9-3 record with a 2.79 ERA and hitting .300 with 21 doubles in 1982 in route to becoming the only player in school history to earn All-ACC honors as a pitcher and position player. After leading the Tigers to an NCAA World Series appearance he was selected in the third round of the 1982 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. After just two seasons in the minors he earned a call up to the big leagues as a southpaw pitcher and became a star. During his 15 MLB Seasons he earned four AllStar selections, led the American League in ERA in 1987 and wins in 1994, and won two World Series rings with the Blue Jays in 1992 and Yankees in 1994.
