About Jeff Hammond
Jeff Hammond is known for his television and radio personality as a NASCAR commentator for Fox Sports. In addition, Hammond is a partial owner of a Camping World Truck Series racing team based in Mooresville, North Carolina, known as Red Horse Racing. Hammond grew up in North Carolina in the late 1950’s and early ‘60’s. He excelled in football throughout his childhood, having been named a High School Prep Football All-American in the ’73-’74 season, and went on to pursue a collegiate football career at East Carolina University. Around the same time of his career-ending injury, Hammond took an interest in racing and served as a tire changer and even as the crew chief position at Junior Johnson Motorsports. After working with four NASCAR champions and serving as a crew chief for many years, Hammond retired and turned to television broadcasting. He also contributes a regular online column for Fox Sports that gets people involved and interacting with him.
