Jarome Iginla Biography

Jarome Iginla was one of the most feared scorers of his generation. Iginla played in over 1,500 games, spending the bulk of his career with the Calgary Flames. After winning Western Hockey League Player of the Year in 1996, he made his NHL debut with the Flames in the Stanley Cup playoffs that season. Iginla was the team's leading scorer by his third year and then led the NHL in goals and points in 2001-02. That season, he won the Lester B. Pearson Award. Two seasons later, Iginla again paced the league in scoring and carried the Flames to the Stanley Cup Final. Overall, he was a six-time NHL All-Star and one of just seven players in league history to score at least 30 goals in 11 consecutive seasons. Iginla holds most major Flames career records and had his jersey retired by the franchise in 2019. He competed in three Olympics for Canada as well, winning two gold medals, including their first in 50 years in 2002.
