About Gino Torretta
When Gino Torretta stepped foot on the gridiron during his days at the University of Miami, wins followed. After being a part of the Hurricanes 1989 National Championship team he took over the reigns at quarterback in 1991 and led his team to a second National Championship in three years. In 1992 he followed up that performance by winning the Heisman Trophy and earning Consensus All-American honors. He’d go down as one of the best quarterbacks in Miami history and would go on to be enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame in 2010. In 1993 the Minnesota Viking selected Torretta in the 7th round of the NFL Draft. For the next five seasons he served as a back-up quarterback for the Vikings, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts. After his football career came to an end he joined Wachovia Securities as a Senior Financial Advisor and eventually landed a position as the Vice President for GAMCO Asset Management in Palm Beach, Florida. He is also the Chairman and CEO of Touchdown Radio and provides expert analysis on Sirius/XM radio for college sports nation.
