About Gerrit Cole
Gerrit Cole is one of the best pitchers of his generation. Cole spent three seasons at UCLA before being selected with the top overall pick in the 2011 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He debuted in the majors two years later, winning his first four starts and National League Rookie of the Month honors. Cole became instrumental in helping the Pirates reach the postseason three straight years. He was selected to his first All-Star team in 2015 and finished the year with a 19-8 record, 2.60 ERA and 202 strikeouts. Cole was traded to the Houston Astros prior to the 2018 season and started having even more success. He went to the All-Star Game in each of his first two seasons. In 2019, Cole went 20-5 with a 2.50 ERA and 326 strikeouts. He led the American League in ERA and all of baseball in strikeouts. That same year, Cole helped the Astros reach the World Series. Following his success in Houston, he signed with the New York Yankees prior to the 2020 season.
