About Fred Couples
Fred Couples is a professional golfer who competes on the PGA Tour and the Champions Tour. Couples accepted a golf scholarship from the University of Houston. Couples had his first PGA Tour victory at the 1983 Kemper Open. During the course of his career, Couples has won 14 PGA Tour titles; two of which were Players Championships and one major victory at the 1992 Masters Tournament. In 1991 and 1992, Couples was named the PGA Tour Player of the Year. He has also won the Vardon Trophy and been named to the United States Ryder Cup team five times. Couples became the first American player to reach the number one position in the Official World Golf Rankings. Couples received the nickname “Mr. Skins” because of his dominance at the Skins Games. He has won the event five times. Couples made his debut at the Champions Tour at the opening of the 2010 season where he finished second. Couples has won 15 PGA Tours, 3 European Tours, 11 Champions Tours and 35 other tours.
