About Fisher DeBerry
Fisher DeBerry is a retired football player and coach. DeBerry was hired in 1980 as the Air Force Academy quarterbacks coach and in 1981, he became the offensive coordinator. In 1982, the Air Force Academy beat Vanderbilt in the Hall of Fame Bowl. Two years later, the Air Force Academy beat Virginia Tech at the 1984 Independence Bowl. DeBerry has been named WAC coach of the year three times. In 1985, he won the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award and in 2001, he was awarded the State Farm Coach of Distinction. DeBerry has also been inducted into the South Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. In 1996, he served as the president of the American Football Coaches Association and he currently is the chairman of the AFCA ethics committee. He has also been honored as the Independence Bowl to be a member of the Hall of Fame and he was inducted into the Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame.
