About Ed McCaffrey
Ed McCaffrey was born in Pennsylvania but made his way out to California to play for football for the Stanford Cardinals. After a collegiate career that saw McCaffrey earn All-American status, he was drafted in the third round of the 1991 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. After three seasons with the Giants and then one with the San Francisco 49ers, McCaffrey was traded to the Denver Broncos where he teamed up with QB John Elway to become a premier wideout. After three years of building chemistry with Elway, McCaffrey broke out in 1998 which began three straight seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards. McCaffrey also won three Super Bowls in his career, one with the 49ers and then two consecutive with Elway and the Broncos. After suffering a leg injury in the 2001 season, McCaffrey rebounded one more time to total 903 yards for the 2002 season but ultimately retired after 2003 due to injuries. After a thirteen year career with 7,422 receiving yards and 55 TDs, McCaffrey began a career running sports camps, including his "Dare to Play" football camp for individuals suffering from Downs Syndrome.
