About Doug Cosbie
Doug Cosbie is a retired NFL tight end who played 11 seasons in the league with Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos. Prior to his time in the NFL, Cosbie was a three year starter at Santa Clara University for head coach Pat Malley. Cosbie finished his career at Santa Clara as their top receiving tight end with 120 receptions for 1,721 yards and ten touchdowns, all of these a school record. Following his graduation, Cosbie was drafted in the third round of the 1979 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. By his third season, Cosbie was the starting tight end, and he would finish his Cowboys career with 300 catches for 3,728 yards and 30 touchdowns. His efforts were good enough to be named to three straight Pro Bowls, and he currently ranks seventh all time in catches with the Cowboys. In 1989, Cosbie signed with the Denver Broncos as a free agent, eventually deciding to retire during training camp of that same season. Cosbie is now an accomplished coach and businessman, and is considered one of the top tight ends in Dallas Cowboys’ history.
