About Doug Christie
Doug Christie is the head coach for the Sacramento Kings, a team he left the greatest impact during a 15-year pro playing career. Before his time in the NBA, Christie played collegiately at Pepperdine University for four seasons. With Pepperdine, Christie won WCC Player of the Year two times in 1991 and 1992, playing well enough to be drafted in the first round of the 1992 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics, but was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers before playing a game.
Christie played sparingly with the Lakers before being traded in 1994 to the New York Knicks, again playing sparingly until being traded to the Toronto Raptors in 1996. Christie reached his pinnacle in his four years with Toronto, becoming the all-time leader in steals. In 2000, Christie was traded again, this time to the Sacramento Kings, where he would go on to win three NBA All-Defensive Second Team awards and a First Team nomination in 2003. Following short stops with the Magic, Mavericks, and Clippers, Christie retired, ending his career with 9,301 points, 3,382 rebounds, and 1,555 steals.
