About Dick Beardsley
Dick Beardsley is a legendary American marathon runner. In 1981, Beardsley tied for first in the inaugural London Marathon. He was also victorious in the 1981 and 1982 Grandma's Marathon. His 1981 time stood as the course record for 33 years. He finished as a runner-up in the 1982 Boston Marathon, setting course and American records in the process. Beardsley holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for setting personal bests in 13 consecutive marathons. In 2002, Beardsley released his memoir, "Staying the Course: A Runner's Toughest Race." A year later, he started the Dick Beardsley Marathon Running Camp. His Dick Beardsley Foundation helps those suffering from chemical dependency pay for 12-step treatment programs. Beardsley was inducted into the National Distance Running Hall of Fame in 2010.
