About Dexter Manley
Dexter Manley is a native of Houston, Texans and played his college ball at Oklahoma State University. After starring for the Cowboys he made his way to the professional ranks as a 5th round pick of the Washington Redskins in the 1981 NFL Draft. For the next eight seasons he was as solid as they come at the defensive end position. In 1986 he recorded 18.5 sacks in route to earning his first All-Pro and Pro Bowl selections, and would end up helping the Redskins to two Super Bowl Championships in 1982 and 1987. For his contributions to the Redskins franchise from 1981 to 1989 he was recognized as one of the 70 Greatest Redskins ever and inducted into the Washington Redskins Ring of Fame. He’d finish his career in the NFL in 1991 after one-year stints with the Phoenix Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, he was not done playing the game. From 1992 to 1994 he played in the CFL and continued to dominate. With a total of 97.5 sacks during his career in professional football, he is widely considered to be one of the top defensive ends of his era.
