About Dellin Betances
Dellin Betances was one of the more exciting relief pitchers in baseball. He was a four-time All-Star, making the squad each season from 2014-2017 while with the New York Yankees. Betances mostly served as a the Yankees setup man He made over 70 appearances in 2014 and 2015. In 2014, he was the first New York rookie pitcher to make an All-Star game since 1947. That season Betances posted a 1.40 ERA and 135 strikeouts, which led all relievers. For his tremendous efforts, he finished third in the American League Rookie of the Year voting. In 2015, he followed it up with another 100 strikeout season, becoming the first Yankees receiver to ever fan 100 batters in back-to-back years. Betances originally debuted with the club in 2011, but did not pitch enough until 2014 to qualify as a rookie. He was long regarded as one of the franchise's best prospects after being selected in the eighth round of the 2006 MLB Draft. As a Manhattan native, Betances is a lilfelong Yankees fan who attended many games over the years before suiting up in pinstripes. In 2020, Betances moved across town to play for the New York Mets.
