About Dean Steinkuhler
Dean Steinkuler played seven seasons in the NFL with the Houston Oilers from 1984 to 1991. Prior to joining the Oilers in 1984 as a first round pick he was a standout offensive lineman at the University of Nebraska. In 1983 Steinkuler won the Outland Trophy and the Lombardi Award as the nations top lineman and was also named the UPI Lineman of the Year. To date he is one of only thirteen players in NCAA history to win both the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award in the same season. Upon joining the Oilers as the No. 2 overall pick in the 1984 NFL Draft he earned team co-rookie of the year honors and went on to have a successful NFL career. In 1999 he was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation College Football All-Century Team as a guard and was also selected as a third team offensive guard by Sports Illustrated on their NCAA Football All-Century Team.
