Dayton Moore Biography

Dayton Moore is the general manager for the Kansas City Royals. During his time in Kansas City, Moore has totally turned around the fortunes of the franchise. He officially started in his role in 2006 and also serves as Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations. In 2015, the Royals had their crowining achievement under Moore's watch, winning their first World Series in 30 years. That season, they led the American League with 95 wins and captured the first AL Central division title in franchise history. Moore won the Esurance MLB Best Executive Award. From 2009-2015, the team improved their win total each year. Under Moore's guidance, the Royals were named the Organization of the Year in 2014 by Baseball America. Prior to joining Kansas City, he honed his skils for identifying talent and building a winner with the Atlanta Braves. He joined the Braves front office in 1994, smack dab in the middle of one of the greatest runs by any franchise in baseball history. After originally joining the Atlanta scouting department, Moore rose to the title of Assistant General Manager before leaving for the Royals. His career in baseball began at his alma mater, George Mason. Moore was an assistant coach for GMU's baseball team from 1990-1994 while also managing the Winchester Royals summer league team.
