About David Price
David Price was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 MLB Draft out of Vanderbilt University. While at Vanderbilt he won the Golden Spikes Award, Dick Howser Trophy and Brooks Wallace Award as the top amateur player in the country after posting an 11-1 record with a 2.63 ERA for the Commodores as a junior in 2007. Prior to that season he helped Team USA to a gold medal at the 2006 World University Championships with a stellar performance. Upon being selected by the Rays he signed a six-year, $8.5 million contract with a $5.6 million signing bonus and headed to the minors for one year before making his MLB Debut in 2008. During his rookie season he helped the Rays to a World Series appearance and established himself as a front line starter. Since that time he has earned four All-Star selections and won the 2012 American League Cy Young Award after leading the league in wins and ERA. In 2014 he was traded to the Detroit Tigers and ended up leading the major leagues in strikeouts.
