About David Garrard
David Garrard joined that Jacksonville Jaguars as a fourth round selection in 2002 out of East Carolina University. Prior to signing with East Carolina he earned Prep Stars All-American honors while playing quarterback at Southern High School in Durham, North Carolina. At East Carolina he established himself as one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the country. During his career he threw for over 9,000 yards and rushed for over 1,000 in route to setting 28 school passing and offensive records. After earning his degree in construction management in 2001 he headed to the Jaguars as the 108th overall pick in the 2002 NFL Draft. Garrard played for the Jaguars from 2002 to 2010 and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2009. One of the highlights of his career was when he was awarded the 2004 Ed Block Courage Award for his dedication to leadership, team and community. He retired in 2013 as a member of the New York Jets with 16,003 passing yards and 89 career touchdowns to go along with 1,746 rushing yards and 17 rushing touchdowns.
