Dave Stewart

Dave Stewart played in the big leagues for 18 seasons and was one of the most dominant pitchers of his era. Known for his intimidation and tenacity on the mound during games, Stewart won 168 games and posted a sparkling 3.95 ERA with 1,741 career strikeouts in 523 career games during his career. Over the span of his career he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, Oakland Athletics, and Toronto Blue Jays. In 1981 he helped the Dodgers to a World Series title with a stellar 2.49 ERA in 32 games, and went on to help the Athletics to a World Series title in 1989 with a World Series MVP performance. He won a third World Series ring with the Blue Jays in 1993 and was ALCS MVP that year. In 1990, Stewart had an excellent year. Not only did he throw his first no-hitter, he also won the ALCS MVP Award and Roberto Clemente Award for his dedication to leadership, team, sportsmanship and community. After his career he served as the assistant to the general manager of the Athletics and Padres before being named the pitching coach of the Padres in 1998 and Milwaukee Brewers in 2002. He also spent time in several front offices and was the Arizona Diamondbacks general manager for three years.
