About Dave Cowens
Dave Cowens played in the NBA for 13 seasons with the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks from 1970 to 1983. During his epic playing career he led the Celtics to two NBA Championships in 1974 and 1976 and was named the NBA MVP in 1973. He also earned seven All-Star selections, three All-NBA nods, three selections to the NBA All-Defensive Team and was named the 1971 NBA Rookie of the Year. For his contributions to he league he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, named to the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team and had his legendary No. 18 jersey retired by the Boston Celtics. After his retirement he pursued a successful coaching career. From 1994 to 1996 he served as an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs and went on to serve as the head coach of the Charlotte Hornets from1996 to 1999. Since that time he has headed up the Chicago Sky in the WNBA in 2006 and served as an assistant with the Detroit Pistons from 2006 to 2009.
