About Charles Barkley
Charles Barkley is a retired professional power forward for the NBA and currently serves as an analyst on TNT's Inside the NBA. Barkley attended Auburn University from 1981-1985 where he led the SEC in rebounds every year and became a crowd pleaser with his dunks and blocked shots. Barkley was named SEC Player of the Year and he earned three All-SEC selections with one Second Team All-American selection. The Philadelphia 76ers selected Barkley as the 5th overall pick in the 1984 NBA Draft. In his rookie season, Barkley earned a spot on the AllRookie Team and he helped the 76ers to the Eastern Conference Finals, but in the end they lost to the Boston Celtics. Barkley earned his first trip to the NBA All-Star game during the 1986-87 season. Barkley was traded to the Phoenix Suns in the 1992-93 season. Barkley helped lead the Suns to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1976. Barkley was traded to the Houston Rockets in 1996. The 1999-2000 season was Barkley’s last year in the NBA. Barkley participated in the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics as a member of the U.S. Men’s Basketball Team also known as the “Dream Team.”
