About Darren Collison
Darren Collison joined the New Orleans Pelicans as a first round pick in 2009 out of UCLA. Collison signed with UCLA out of Etiwanda High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California and quickly became a star for the Bruins on the court. From 2007 to 2009 he earned All-Pac 10 conference honors three times and All-American honors in back-to-back years in 2008 and 2009 after playing in a school record tying 142 career games. After earning the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award in 2009 for being the best small guard in the NCAA he was selected with the 21st overall pick by the Hornets in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft. During his first season he shined, averaging 12.4 points and 5.7 assists in route to earning NBA All-Rookie First-Team honors. The following season he was traded to the Indiana Pacers and posted a career-high 13.2 points per game in 2011. Since 2011 he has seen time with the Pacers, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers. He finished his career with two seasons In Indiana and retired in 2019.
