Danny Ferry

Danny Ferry has spent a life in basketball. As a player, Ferry got his start at Duke University, where he was a standout player for all four seasons. Ferry is considered one of the greatest players in Duke history, as he is the only player to rank in the top ten of points, rebounds, and assists. His accolades earned in college were immense, as he took home two All-American awards, the Naismith Award, two ACC Player of the Year awards, and much more.

After graduating, Ferry was drafted second overall in the 1989 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, but chose to instead play in the Italian League. In the middle of the 1989 season, the Clippers traded Ferry’s rights to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he would go on to play for over a decade. He finished his career with the San Antonio Spurs, where he won the 2003 NBA Championship in his final season.

Following his retirement, Ferry worked in the Spurs front office, eventually being promoted to the general manager role of the Cavaliers. In 2010, Ferry left the Cavs to serve in a Vice President role with the Spurs, but he left two years later to become president of the Atlanta Hawks.He spent two years with the Hawks prior to becoming a special advisor and then interim GM for the New Orleans Pelicans. He is currently an advisor in San Antonio.
