About Dan Duquette
Dan Duquette has been one of the most experienced executives in baseball. He joined the Baltimore Orioles in 2011 and the organization made the playoffs for the first time that following season. In 2014, Duquette was named The Sporting News Executive of the Year and Baseball America Major League Executive of the Year. Prior to coming to Baltimore, he was out of baseball for nine years. During that time, he founded the Dan Duquette Sports Academy. Duquette also had an ownership stake in several collegiate summer league teams and helped found the Israeli Baseball League. From 1994-2002, he was the general manager of the Boston Red Sox. The Red Sox made the playoffs three times in his tenure. He is known for drafting star shortstop Nomar Garciaparra and trading for Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez. Duquette also helped set the stage for the Red Sox 2004 World Series win. He began his baseball career in the front office of the Milwaukee Brewers. Duquette went on to work for the Montreal Expos and was promoted to vice president and general manager in 1991. He acquired many future stars while in Montreal and was named Sporting News' Executive of the Year in 1992.
