Colin Jackson

Colin Jackson, an England native born in 1967, is a British athlete who holds two world records. Specializing in the hurdles, specifically the 60 meter indoor hurdles and the 110 meter outdoor hurdles, Jackson started competing for Great Britain in 1989. Just one year later, the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) award was bestowed upon him for his services to sports. Although Jackson concluded his professional career at the 2003 World Indoor Championships, he gave so much to the sport and has much to show for it. Since competing for Great Britain, Jackson has won ten gold medals, six silver, and one bronze. He set his world records in 1993 and 1994 and post-retirement, he has given back to sports in general by coaching both runners and swimmers. In addition, Jackson has shared his experiences and wisdom on television, as he began to co-host the British reality TV program entitled Born to Win, in 2004, and went on to appear on many other television shows throughout the years. One of his most admirable doings since retirement has been Jackson’s launch of the Red Shoes Academy in 2012, which is a presentation delivered by Olympic and Paralympic sports athletes to whole school assemblies in the aim to motivate young adults worldwide to find the 'Champion Within'.
