About Chris Sale
Chris Sale is one of the best pitchers of his generation and a seven-time All-Star.Sale almost evenly split his career between the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox before being traded to the Atlanta Braves in 2023. He became the fastest pitcher to 2,000 strikeouts in a career and also holds the record for most strikeouts per nine innings.
Sale's All-Star appearances came in seven straight years from 2012-18 and he led the American League in strikeouts in both 2015 and 2017. He was perhaps his best in 2014, compiling a 12-4 record with a 2.17 ERA and 208 strikeouts in 174 innings. In his first full season as a starter in 2012, Sale won 17 games. Previously, he had pitched two seasons out of the bullpen for the White Sox.
Chicago originally drafted Sale 13th overall in the 2010 MLB Draft and he became just the fifth player in league history to make his big league debut in the same season.Sale was a star at Florida Gulf Coast, going 11-0 with a 2.01 ERA in his final season and winning National Pitcher of the Year honors. FGCU made his jersey the first retired in any sport in school history. Saleis a Lakeland, Florida native.
